Kick-off meeting for the RISCS project

ZERO are participating in the new project “Research into Impacts and Safety in CO2 Storage” (RISCS), with kick-off meeting 28.-29. January in Nottingham (UK). RISCS is a 4 year research project funded by EU FP7, with 23 partners. ZERO is contributing in our first EU-project, with external communication strategy work. ZERO are in the advisory board for the project together with CO2CRC from Australia, ZERT and Stanford University (US), University of Regina (Canada) and IEA-GHG. Feb 01, 2010

Sats på bærekraftig biodrivstoff

På vegne av en lang rekke aktører sendte ZERO 4. februar et brev til Stortinget der vi ba om en bedring i rammevilkårene for biodrivstoff i Norge. Brevet, som var støttet av både produsenter, distributører og brukere av biodrivstoff i tillegg til fagforeninger og andre interesseorganisasjoner, slår fast at biodrivstoff er et viktig ledd i arbeidet for å redusere klimagassutslipp fra transportnæringen og for å skape grønne arbeidsplasser i Norge. ZERO expands to Britain

ZERO have appointed a project management position on Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) in the United Kingdom, with a special focus on the North Sea area. Neil Crumpton, who also works in the Friends of the Earth UK, will work towards the UK authorities and is also part of ZEROs NGO Network on CCS around the North Sea. Feb 03, 2010

CLIMIT now also to include industrial emissions

The Norwegian government have decided to broaden the mandate of the CO2 research and development programme CLIMIT to also include industrial emissions. Gassnova will now have the possibility to stimulate solutions that are specifically adapted to the reduction of industrial CO2 emissions. Development activities will now be extended to also include development needs for a diversity of industries. Jan 21, 2010

CCS on the Kårstø gas fired powerplant postponed

The full scale capture project at the Kårstø gas fired powerplant is postponed. That is revealed in the revised national budget for 2009, presented by the Government today. The government will present a revised plan for the capture plant in the budget for 2010. The consequense is at least a year delay. May 15, 2009

Gassco finishes Naturkraft Integration Mapping Study

Gassco has performed a mapping study to evaluate various degrees of integration between Naturkraft’s gas power plant and the Kårstø gas processing plant. The study describes a staged development by supplying heat and power from Naturkraft to the gas processing plant and a stepwise electrification of compressors until all existing CO2 emissions from boilers and gas turbines at the gas processing plant are either captured or replaced by steam generated at Naturkraft’s power plant. Masterplan Mongstad delivered to the Government

Today Statoil delivered Masterplan Mongstad to the Norwegian Goverment. This plan is a part of the agreement between Statoil and the Government for the planning and implementation of full scale CCS on the Mongstad gas power plant and the refinery. The plan warns both delays and increased costs for the project. Feb 11, 2009
